Cefic: Our Industry’s Response To COVID-19
The European chemical industry has been playing an essential role during the COVID-19 crisis.
Understanding their responsibility, Cefic’s members have been:
- pushing their capacity limits to meet the exponential rise in demand for disinfectants, diagnostic tests, ventilators, protective masks, gloves and gowns, Intensive Care Unit medicines and equipment and protective clothing;
- forming new alliances and shifting their production processes to adapt to the new needs;
- donating funds or critical supplies to hospitals and medical facilities.
The map depicts examples of concrete actions taken across Europe. This list of examples is not exhaustive and continues to grow. At the moment, the Finnish initiatives are Neste, Kemira and Solvay.
One of the objectives of this webpage, is for it to serve as a digital asset to drive forward Cefic´s digital communications around the industry’s crisis response – for Cefic, national associations and members to use.
Since the list of initiatives is ever-growing, please continue to share your examples with Ellen Mulder (emu@cefic.be).
